A convoy of the Nigerian Army has knocked down a motorcycle operator, resulting in the 75-year-old in Katsina state.
The man identified as Salisu Ibrahim was said to be sharing wedding invitations Monday night before the incident happened at the Mani House intersection in the state capital.
According to witnesses, the convoy did not stop to check the victim after knocking him down.
The army authorities have confirmed the incident, saying it was an accident and promised to be fully involved in Ibrahim's funeral.
"The Convention of the Commander, 17 Brigade NA, Katsina was involved in a road traffic accident today, June 29, 2020, in which a road user was killed," said the acting director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, in a statement.
He added, “The deceased motorcycle rider was a 75 year old man named Alh Salisu Ibrahim from Filin Samji, Katsina. The incident happened when the vehicles went to refuel and expected to pick up the Brigade commander later.
"Already, a delegation from the Nigerian Army led by the brigade commander has visited the family to be in commissary with them and will be fully involved in the funeral."
